Fort Simpson Community Details
Fort Simpson (Liidlii Kue – "place where the rivers come together") is the Deh Cho's gateway to the Nahanni Country. With rich soils and relatively temperate climate, Fort Simpson became known as the Garden of the Mackenzie.

The Beavertail Jamboree in March is a winter carnival featuring traditional games, snowmobile races and a talent show The Open Sky Festival, held annually on the Canada Day long weekend, is a multi-disciplinary arts festival featuring musical, theatrical and other performance related events, as well as traditional Dehcho Dene crafts, visual arts, new media exhibitions, workshops and demonstrations.
